NC State to celebrate CSAM 2023 — Tidy Up Your Digital Tracks

Think about the number of places you store your work and private data. You probably store data — like texts, images, audio recordings, videos, and documents — in numerous locations. Many of us, however, only delete data when we have almost reached the storage limit in our online accounts or smart devices, rendering them less efficient.

As service providers like Google and Microsoft implement storage quotas, now is the time to review and reduce your data footprint. Knowing where your data is stored is the first step in protecting it.Cybersecurity Awareness Month is October 2023. Red folder with a broom.

During Cybersecurity Awareness Month (CSAM) in October, the Office of Information Technology (OIT) is partnering with the NC State Department of Computer Science, the ePartners Program, and CISCO to bring you “Tidy Up Your Digital Tracks” to encourage you to review and change how you use and store data at NC State and home.

This year’s CSAM event will feature Cyber Strategic Advisor David Stone of Google Cloud who will present the virtual keynote, “Securing the Internet at the Speed and Scale of Google,” on Tuesday, Oct. 3 at 1 p.m.

During his keynote, Stone will talk about the threats to the cyber landscape and the actions and tactics that Google uses to secure the internet.

Join this session to glimpse what it takes to secure Google daily and learn what tactics you can apply to protect your information. You will also learn how innovations in AI are helping the defenders leverage the power for good.

As a defender in Google Cloud’s Office of the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), Stone innovates game-changing security transformation programs to protect the financial industry. An internationally respected industry thought leader, Stone brings almost 20 years of experience transforming security for Fortune Global 500 companies, including building and securing SWIFT payment systems. He now helps financial services institutions build and maintain secure systems. To register for this event, visit REPORTER
